ITINERARY


A week in the three Baltic States - Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. A week among nature lovers, open and warm Baltic people who are entering a new era of their independence with smiles again on their faces and with regained national self-confidence. A week in Vilnius, Kaunas, Riga and Tallinn - the four most exciting cities in the Baltics, rich in architecture dating back to the Middle Ages, a vivid present-day life and challenging future.

 

Day 1, Fri: Vilnius
Arrival to Vilnius. Afternoon city tour of Old Town of Vilnius including it's main attractions: the Cathedral, St. Anne's Church, the Dawn Gate with a miraculous icon of Virgin Mary and Vilnius University. (O)

Day 2, Sat: Vilnius
Full day tour to Kaunas, the second largest town of the country and the capital of pre-war Lithuania. City tour includes the Town Hall Square with Gothic and Baroque churches, Ciurlionis Picture Gallery and Devil's Museum. (B,O)

Day 3, Sun: Trakai - Vilnius
Morning trip to Trakai, the ancient capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, to visit the 15th century Insular Trakai Castle. Afternoon tour in Vilnius features places related to the country's recent history: the KGB Museum - a place where thousands of Lithuanians were interrogated before being deported to Siberia during the Soviet times and the Parliament building - a symbol of Lithuania's courageous fight for freedom in 1991. Day 4, Mon: Riga 
Departure to Riga en route stops at the Hill of Crosses, a unique place of national pilgrimage, and the impressive Baroque Rundale Palace created by B. Rastrelli. Late afternoon arrival in Riga, the capital of Latvia. (B,O)

Day 5, Tues: Riga
Morning walking tour of the Old Town Riga with a visit to the Dome Cathedral. Afternoon free. (B,O)

Day 6, Wed: Tallinn
Drive alongside the Riga Bay to Tallinn. En route stop in Sigulda, located in the picturesque Gauja valley dotted with caves and castles. Late afternoon arrival to Estonia's capital. (B,O)

Day 7, Thu: Tallinn 
Walking Tour of Tallinn features the Old Town with it's Town Hall Square, numerous churches, the Toompea Castle. Afternoon visit to Rocca-al-Mare Ethnographic Museum. (B,O)
