ITINERARY

Day 01: Reykholt
Arrival in Iceland. Drive on to Borgarfjordur, the saga valley and stay 3 nights at Fosshotel Reykholt or similar. (O)

Day 02: Reykholt
Bifrost area awaits, where you can explore the unique lava landscape on a walk around Glanni waterfall, Grabrok volcano and Hredavatn Lake. (B,O)

Day 03: Reyholt
Explore Hraunfossar waterfall, Husafell, with its delightful walking trails, and Glymur, Iceland’s highest waterfall. (B,O)

Day 04: Skagafjordur 
Drive north to Skagafjordur, the valley of the horses. Vatnsnes peninsula awaits you, with a multitude of short, beautiful hiking routes. See the seal colony at Hindisvik. 2 nights at Fosshotel Aning or similar. (B,O)

Day 05: Skagafjordur 
Climb the mountain peaks of Molduxi or Tindastoll in Saudarkrokur, or visit the turf church Vidimyri and the folk museum Glaumbaer. (B,O)

Day 06: Reykjadalur Valley 
At Siglufjordur and Olafsfjordur you will find numerous possibilities for walks and hikes of varying distances, all offering a stunning panoramic view. Stop en route at Godafoss, the waterfall of the gods. 2 nights at Fosshotel Laugar or Husavik.  (B,O)

Day 07: Reykjadalur Valley  
Explore the sights of Lake Myvatn, Namaskard hot springs and Krafla lava fields with countless fascinating walks, each taking 1-3 hours. (B,O)

Day 08: Hallormsstadur
Drive around Tjornes peninsula to Asbyrgi, Hljodaklettar and Dettifoss (mid-June – August), Europe’s most powerful waterfall, and continue on to East Iceland. 2 nights at Fosshotel Hallormsstadur or Valaskjalf.  (B,O)

Day 09: Hallormsstadur
Spend your day walking around Lake Logurinn, Hallormsstadur forest and Fardagafoss and Hengifoss waterfalls. (B,O)

Day 10: Hornafjordur
Enjoy the dramatic East Fjords before reaching Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajokull. Walk at Bulandsnes and enjoy the exotic and rich bird life.  Overnight at Fosshotel Vatnajokull or similar. (B,O)

Day 11: Hella or Nesjavellir
Drive along the south coast and witness many natural wonders, including a glacial lagoon and Skaftafell National Park, where we recommend a hike to Svartifoss waterfall, the rock Sjonarsker and the rim of Skaftafellsjokull glacier. Stop at Reynishverfi and Dyrholaey to explore the black beach and see the puffins. 3 nights at Fosshotel Mosfell in Hella or Fosshótel Nesbud in Nesjavellir. (B,O)

Day 12: Hella or Nesjavellir

jorsardalur valley fascinates with its myriad waterfalls such as Gjainn, Hjalparfoss and Haifoss, all dominated by the powerful volcano Hekla, well worth taking a day to explore (note: 7 km each way). Visit the historical farm Stong, time permitting. (B,O)

Day 13: Hella or Nesjavellir
Visit Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot springs, Kerid volcanic crater and Thingvellir National Park. (B,O)

Day 14: Reykjavik
Enjoy the spectacular Hengill region with its variety of challenging hiking trails. Overnight in Reykjavik. (B,O)

Day 13: Reykjavik
Depart for home. (B)
