Day 1: Reykjavik - Gullfoss - Geysir - Pingvellir - Reykjavik We
begin our tour with a short city tour of Reykjavik. Then via Hveragerdi
toGullfoss which is known as the Queen of Iceland´s waterfalls.
We continue to the nearby famouns hot spring area of Geysir.
Our next stop today is at the old Parliament site at Pingvellir
(Parliament fields) founded the year 930ad. From there we head north,
driving through the mountain pass at Kjos, arriving in Hvalfjordur
(Whale Fjord). We have to go around the fjord to reach the region of
Borgarfjordur, where we stay next 2 nights.
Day 2: Snaefellsnes Peninsula Today
will be spent driving around the Snaefellsnes peninsula (the peninsula
of the snowy mountain) with the glacier Snæfellsjokull, where according
to Jules Verne´s book, the entrance to the center of the earth can be
found. We will pass Budir,
Arnarstapi, Olafsvík, Bjarnarhofn shark processing farm and
Stykkisholmur where we embark on a boat to enjoy a 2 ½ hours boat trip
around the islands of Breidafjordur.
Day 3: Borgarfjordur - Reykjavik We
begin with visiting Deildatunguhver, one of the world's most powerful
hot spring giving 198 liters per second, some of it channeled through a
vent over a distance of 30 km and 60 km to heat up villages and farms on
the way. We continue with the theme water visiting Hraunfossar (lava
waterfalls) where crystal clear water seemingly drops out of a 1000
years old lava field. We go via Borgarnes village and through
Hvalfjordur tunnel back to Reykjavik in time for the afternoon flights
to US and UK.
