Europe's oldest kingdom, Denmark, is one of the smallest countries in Europe. Its has the oldest capital city and the oldest flag. Today, visitors to Denmark find a country that is peaceful, introspective, neutral and egalitarian. Denmark's cities are filled with gracious plazas, statues, fountains, gardens crisscrossed with wide, tree-lined walkways, open air markets, flower vendors on street corners, museums, galleries and quaint cafes. The country has a rich cultural heritage witness to a remarkable past, apparent in its regal rooms in majestic castles and centuries old houses lining tranquil canals. Copenhagen, home to world-renowned museums and cultural activities (not least the splendor of the Tivoli Gardens), to a countryside that abounds in Renaissance churches, medieval castles and 18th-century fishing villages, Denmark is a synergy of harmonious relationships.
