The
Story of Infant Jesus of Prague
The miraculous statuette comes
from Spain, where, according to old saying, it was modeled by a monk
to whom the Boy Jesus appeared indeed in this form. It was brought
to Prague like valuable relic of the mother country, by Donates
Maria Manriques when marrying Czech Vratislav de Pernstejn in 1556.
He soon gave the statuette to his daughter Polyxena . When Polyxena
became widow in 1628, she decided to put its statuette within reach
of all the believers, dedicating it to the Carmelite monastery from
the associate to the church of Maria of the Victory. The Carmelite
friars took care of the statuette and propagated their cult by means
of their monasteries everywhere in the world. In the wardrobe of the
Boy there are already about fifty different suits.
